IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alfreda P
Dumond
September 17, 1917 – November 23, 2020
Fort Kent – Following 103 beautiful years on this earth, Alfreda 'Freda' (Paradis) Dumond finally earned her blessed angel wings on November 23, 2020, surrounded by her family at Northern Maine Medical Center. Freda was born September 17, 1917 in Fort Kent, the daughter of Remi and Madeline (Theriault) Paradis. She was predeceased by her husband, Docite Dumond, 30 years ago.
Freda lived a faith filled life striving to incorporate God's word in all that she did. She was a member of the Fort Kent Columbiettes and the Ladies of St. Anne. Being a dedicated volunteer for both her church and her community brought her so much joy. As a Eucharistic minister at the St. John Vianney Parish, she enjoyed sharing the gift of the eucharist with unabled community members. As it has a tendency to do, time began to limit her direct involvement with her beloved Parish. Freda, would not allow her faith to lessen, rather, she devoted so much of her time praying the Rosary, saying Nivenas and reading scriptures, as she understood this was God's purpose for her.
Second only to her faith was Freda's intense love for socializing with both her family and her dearest friends. During her days at home, she loved sharing her love of cooking and baking with anyone who would stop by. Whether it was her famous chicken stew and ployes, or her one of a kind spaghetti, there were never any leftovers in sight. The neighborhood kids always knew where to stop by if they wanted lollipops, as she always had such a soft spot for God's children. As time passed, reminiscing on days gone by was something that brought her immense joy and happiness, as it allowed her to remain connected to many of her most precious memories. A true servant of God, she selflessly helped others without hesitation and was loved by so very many.
Alfreda is survived by her seven children, Frank and his wife Donna Dumond, of Bristol, Ct., Diane and her husband Robert Berube of Brandenton, Fl., Linda and her husband Gary Voisine of Fort Kent, Michael and his wife Carlene Dumond of Fort Kent, Beverly and her husband Donald Nadeau of Fort Kent, Theresa and her husband Jeannel Nadeau of Fort Kent, Lisa and her husband Denis Collins of Brewer, Maine; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Although miles apart, Freda's last surviving sister, Catherine Castolene of Bristol, CT has been a constant in her life and their bond for each other has been unwavering.
The family would like to thank the staff at Crosswind's Residential Care for making their mom feel so special and loved over the last two and half years of her life. While there, she felt like a queen. Those who wish to donate in Freda's memory may donate to the Crosswinds Residential Care Activities Fund, 40 Village Rd, Fort Kent, Maine 04743. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
