Van Buren--- Alfreda T. Lausier, 78, peacefully passed away July 15, 2023, at Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle. She was born March 29, 1945 in St. Anne, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Louis and Azilda (Gagnon) Caron.
Alfreda worked as a CNA for the former Van Buren hospital for many years. She also worked homecare for area residents and took work at Sleepers in Caribou in the meat room. Alfreda was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella. She loved her growing family and cherished the many visits of her grandchildren. An avid knitter, she shared much of her crafts with her family and friends, and would always help anyone in need.
She will be greatly missed and cherished by her husband of 58 years, Leo Lausier; four sons, Marcel Lausier and his wife Sandy, Gary Lausier and his wife Isabella, Randy Lausier, and Kevin Lausier and his wife Stephanie; eight grandchildren, James Lausier, Kelsie Lausier, Dylan Lausier, Taylor Lausier, Bonnie Lausier, Kadie Lausier, Marissa Lausier, and Brandon Lausier; four step grandchildren, Christopher Levesque, Gabriella Berube, Kolby and Maddison Davis; 17 great grandchildren; ten brothers, O'Neil, Louis Jr., Conrad, Donald, Reginald, and Rudolph Caron and Normand, Louis, Renee, and Ronald Dube; four sisters, Andrina Chabre, Diane Baker, Mary-Jeanne Madore, and Mariette Dube; four foster children Alfreda and Leo cared for; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Marie Anne Dube.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Monday evening 6 – 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning 8:30 – 9:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, ME 04785. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
