Alfreda Wilfrida (Labrie) Leclerc, 88, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2018, at Avita of Stroudwater Assisted Living in Westbrook, Maine. She was born on December 11, 1929 in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Colin) Labrie and the late Jules Labrie.
Freda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ludovic Leclerc. She married "Vic" on November 28, 1953, and together they raised five children.
Freda is survived by her son, Michael Leclerc and his wife Heather and they reside in Eddington, ME; her son, Robert Leclerc and his wife Mary Ann and they reside in Brunswick, ME; her son, Jacques Leclerc and his husband Fransisco Cornejo and they reside in Beverly Hills, CA; her daughter, Lise (Leclerc) Foster and her husband Paul and they reside in Scarborough, ME; her daughter, Lynn (Leclerc) Gierie and her husband Robert Jr. and they reside in Scarborough, ME; her granddaughter, Dominique (Leclerc) Caverly and her husband Robert and they reside in Chelsea, ME; her granddaughter, Danielle (Foster) Miller and her husband Peter and they reside in Gorham, ME; her granddaughter, Natalie Foster and she resides in Scarborough, ME; her grandson Robert III "Robbie" and he resides in Scarborough, ME; her sister Wilda (Tiwi) Collin and she resides in Edmundston, Canada.
Freda was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a member of the church choir for many years. She was notorious for her funny pranks and making people laugh with her dry sense of humor. Her time spent with family was dear to her heart. She was quick to convince friends to play a competitive game of cards, loved playing tennis in her younger years, enjoyed dancing, and swimming. She was renowned for her traditional cooking of des graines, sauce à spaghetti italienne, chicken stew with grands-pères and ployés, des mokas, Canadian date squares, tourtières, and holiday Chinese food made from scratch. We will deeply miss her and her characteristically cheerful disposition.
A special appreciation goes out to Avita of Stroudwater in Westbrook, Maine for their kindness and devotion in providing great care during her five year stay.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska, Maine. There will be no visiting hours.
