Obituary

Madawaska --- Alfreda C. Morin, 97, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2017 at a Madawaka health care facility, following a short illness. She was born in Madawaska on September 2, 1920, daughter of the late Edmund and Emma (Doucette) Cyr.  "Freda", as she was well known by her friends and family, was an active communicant of the St. Thomas Aquinas church and was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Circle #546 for 75 continuous years, where she would have been honored at their Installation Banquet, the day she passed away. She adored traveling, bowling, spending time at her camp in Birch Haven, and playing cards. She was the owner of Freda's dress shop and was known to have a smile that was very welcoming. She will be missed by her friends and family, but is now in the company of the Lord.  The sole survivor of her immediate family she is survived by her many nieces and nephews. Alfreda is predeceased by her loving husband and past Madawaska Police Chief, Fedime Morin; three brothers, Ulric Cyr, Vernon Cyr, and Aril Cyr; two sisters, Theresa Gowell and Hilda Thibodeau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and family may offer their condolences at the church from 9-9:45am the morning of the service. A burial will be held at 1pm on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the St. David Cemetery.
