IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Allen
Prosser
August 12, 1948 – December 7, 2019
Allen Kerry Prosser, Sr., of Fort Kent, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his residence on December 7, 2019. He was born in Houlton, ME, on August 12, 1948 and was the son of the late Earl and Gloria (Folsom) Prosser of Monticello, ME. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his treasured aunt, Christine Cornett and a number of other extended family members. Al is survived by his wife, Karen (Smith) Prosser of Fort Kent; two sons, Troy Whidtfeldt (and mother, Becky Shaw) of Enfield, CT., Allen Jr. (and mother Lynda Myers) of Colorado; three daughters, Heather (Greg) Kilcollins of Waterville, ME, Hope Ferris of Oregon and Bobbie-Joe Prosser (Michael Stone) of Skowhegan; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, Brian (Sherry) Prosser of Maine; Karen's 4 siblings: Kevin (Deborah) Smith, David (Angela) Smith, Deborah (Roger) Kierstead and Dan (Heather) Smith and many nieces and nephews; special "adopted" family: Kristin Heaberlin, Stephanie Chandler, Glenda and John Hogenhout, Sandy Macumber, Jennifer Gladle, Aaron Michaud, Kristine and Marilyn Bedford, Mike Plourde, Rock and Rebeccah (Tanner and Coralie) Douglas-Leblond, David Daigle. Al grew up in Bristol, CT. In his earlier years, he served in the US Navy, in the medical services field. Later, he was very successful in retail sales. He had capabilities in electrical work, plumbing, automotive repair, cooking, and carpentry. At one time, he was a professional ballroom dance instructor and he excelled in Karate. Throughout his life, Al enjoyed times of preaching and teaching, which eventually culminated in the establishment of the Hope for Healing Center in Fort Kent. For the last 5 years, he and his wife Karen have offered a faith-based "Celebrate Recovery" program there. Al felt like he himself was a "work in progress" while he mentored others to be free from hang-ups, hurts and negative habits. He drew strength from his relationship with God and was able to help and encourage many in their journey through life. Because he experienced forgiveness, himself, he also, was able to make an effort to make amends to those he had hurt in his life. One of his greatest desires was that his extended family would experience the love of God and the joy of forgiveness. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Fort Kent Assembly of God Church, 564 Frenchville Road, Fort Kent, Maine. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
