Obituary

MADAWASKA--Alphena (Michaud) Cyr, 92, beloved wife of the late Octave Cyr, passed away peacefully with her son, Ken, by her side on January 25, 2022, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born in St. David, Maine, on March 28, 1929, a daughter of the late Willie and Alma (Cyr) Michaud.

Alphena was a communicant of St David Church. She was a member of the church choir and Les Dame de St. Anne for many years. She was a volunteer for the St David Church Luncheons and also for the St Thomas Thrift Shop. She loved to play cards, play bingo, go dancing, and bowled on a bowling league.  Alphena worked at the Tastee Freeze, Roland's Rendezvous, and Northern Trading Co.

Alphena is survived by her 2 children, Pauline Martin of Connecticut, and Kenneth Cyr and his wife Linda of Madawaska; 2 grandchildren, Kevin Martin and his wife Lisa of Ohio and Todd Cyr of Bangor; 2 great grandchildren, Hannah Martin and Ryan Martin of Connecticut; one step great grandson, Riley of Ohio; one brother Albenie Michaud of Farmington, Maine.; one sister-in-law, Noella Cyr; along with many nieces and nephews.  Alphena is predeceased by her husband Octave, her son Eldon, and her sisters Lucy, Rhella, Marie, Corinne, and her brother Aurel and son-in-law Carmel Martin.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at 10:00am at the St. David Church.
