Madawaska---Our beloved mother and grandmother, Alvine Lagasse, died peacefully in her sleep on February 28, 2025. She was 94. Alvine was the heart of our home and family. She raised nine children, Normand (Terry), Diane (Robert), Rolande (James), Donald, James (Anita), Larry, Carol (Paul), Eileen (Dave) and Steve. Alvine was married for 46 years to her soul mate, Gerard, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by one son, Larry. She was a loving grandmother to Shannon, Shawn, Stephanie, Eric, Craig, Bruce, Katie, Seth, Devin, Andrea, Sarah, Dominic and a great grandmother to Kayla, Isaac, Emily, Cambry, Caleb, Shane, Savannah, Ethan, Madison, Andrew, Kobe, Mason, Samantha, Mia, Ella, Emmett, Kody, Zoe and she had one great-great grand daughter, Elena. She is survived by her Sisters, Dora Lefebvre, Rina Dejardins, Gisele Soucy, Georgette St. Onge; brothers, Theo Cyr and Reginald Cyr; Sisters-in-law, Cecile Fournier and Joan Winfrey; along with many nieces and nephews. Alvine loved to play cards, make jigsaw puzzles, color on her tablet and do Search a Word on the back deck on sunny summer days. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Les Dame de Ste. Anne, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and served on the board of the Forever Young Club for many years. She was the heart and soul of our family, the glue that kept us together and she will be dearly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Relatives and friends may offer their condolences from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, March 3 at Lajoie Funeral Home, Madawaska. There will be no visiting hours on Tuesday before the Mass.
