Madawaska---Amanda Bourgoin, 92, of Madawaska passed away peacefully on August 27, 2014 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home after a long illness. Her son John was by her side when she died. She was born on January 3, 1922 to Willie and Anna (Saucier) Plourde. She was pre-deceased by her husband Ned Bourgoin. Amanda was a dedicated homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her. She was an avid reader with a special interest in Stephen King books. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, travelling, and going for long walks. She is survived by children John Bourgoin and wife Valeria, Lee Bourgoin and wife Sheila, Thomas Bourgoin and wife Teresa, and Carol Pomerleau and husband Roger. She is survived by sisters Mildred Blanchette and Mary Jane Higgins and sisters-in-law Yvette Bourgoin and Jeannine Bourgoin. She was pre-deceased by brothers Leo Plourde, Wilfred Plourde, Lionel Plourde, William Plourde, Rosaire Plourde, Joseph Plourde (lived for 6 months) and sisters Rose Boutot, Isabel Lewis, Laura Thibodeau, and Aimie Plourde (lived for 18 months). She is survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. The family wishes to thank the nurses and hospice workers, plus the staff at St. Joseph's Nursing Home. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm and on Monday September 1, 2014 from 8:30am to 9:45am at Lajoie Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Monday, September 1, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska. Burial will be at Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Augusta
