Anita Marie (Sirois) Clavette, 89, died September 18, 2026, at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent, surrounded by her loving family. Anita will be remembered for her devotion to family, her deep faith, her lifelong love of learning, and her generous service to the community she called home.

She was born June 15, 1937, in Madawaska, Maine, daughter of Donat and Cecile (Paradis) Sirois. Anita graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine, in 1959 and began her teaching career that year at Fort Kent Community High School. There, she met her husband, Tom, and they married in 1960.

Anita spent her life living her vocations of teaching, faith, service, and caring for others. She was a loving mother to five children, grandmother to eleven, and great-grandmother to five. From 1959 to 1995, she taught French and English and taught for the Maine Migrant Education Program, pausing for nine years to care for her children at home. She brought patience, precision, and encouragement to her classroom, and generations of students benefited from her steady presence.

She was a communicant of Holy Family Parish in New Canada and later St. John Vianney Parish in Fort Kent. She served as a lector, eucharistic minister, and religious education teacher; and alongside her husband as a Marriage Encounter presenting couple for nine years. In retirement she volunteered many years at the Fort Kent Food Pantry and Hospice of Aroostook.

Her greatest joy was her family, whose lives she shaped with love, faith, and quiet strength. Anita is survived by her children: Denise and husband, Larry Mead, of Old Orchard Beach, ME; Margaret and husband, Christopher Shuhart, of Seattle, WA; Andre and wife, Jennifer (Roy), of South Berwick, ME; Daniel and wife, Kim (Lizotte), of Scarborough, ME; and Nicole and husband, Sean Devine, of Bear, DE. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caitlin Tremberth (Andy), Chris Albert (Brenna), Seth Albert (Emily Holland), Kathleen Shuhart, Renee Clavette (Mike Dunning), Nathalie Clavette, Brenna Messier (Adam), Jack Clavette (Elizabeth DiTomaso), Anthony Clavette (Emily Parchinski), Amelie Devine, and Maelle Devine; her great-grandchildren, Vivian, Thomas, and Blake Tremberth, and Grace and Benjamin Albert; two brothers, Richard Sirois and his partner, Joan Murray, of Manchester, NH, and Leo Sirois of Madawaska, ME; and several nieces and nephews.

Anita was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Tom Clavette, in 2008; and her brothers Jean-Paul Sirois, Romeo Sirois, and Lawrence Sirois; and her companion in later years, Louis Albert.

Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, Sept. 24, 2026, at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Committal services will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, New Canada.
