Obituary

Frenchville---Anita C. (Bouchard) Nadeau, 93, was born November 3, 1930, in Saint David, a suburb of Madawaska, Maine to the late Paul and Simone (Chasse) Bouchard and died on May 22, 2024, to be happily joined with her family to predeceased her.  Anita, our mom, was the ultimate hard worker and family provider.  She started to work outside her family home at a young age to help financially.  While in high school she would head to the Biddeford, ME area and work at the Pepperill Mill, live with her older brother, Norman and his wife, Blanche.  She would save and send money home to help her parents.  She did this during the summer when school was out for the summer and then returned when school went back into session.  Then on one summer day, her father called and said that the local paper mill, Fraser Paper was hiring, and she should come home to apply.  She returned to the Madawaska area, applied and got hired.  After graduating from Madawaska High School, she continued to work at Fraser and later went to work for Northern Trading Company (formally called Vollman's) a perfume packing company where she worked for 20 years or so.   We always used to joke that mom came home smelling of beautiful fragrances and dad, Norman Nadeau, original creator and operator of Nadeau's Septic Service, THE HONEY WAGON, not so much.  During the time she was working, she learned that Norman was serving with the United States Army in Korea.  She became a penpal with him to ease his loneliness from home.  When Norman returned from Korea they dated and were soon married.  Their marriage lasted 67 years until Norman predeceased her in May 2022.  Anita was also predeceased by four siblings and their spouses:  Norman (Blanche) Bouchard, Clarence (Theresa) Bouchard, Rena (Gerald)Hebert and Viola Grandmaison. A special sister-in-law, Joanne (Eldon) Bouchard.  She is survived by her three children; Rose (Chris) Michaud of Madawaska, ME; Richard (Rick) Nadeau and spouse Alan Boyd of Sacramento, CA; Elaine(Wayne) Jellison of Orrington, ME and her youngest brother, Eldon Bouchard and his wife, Jenny.  In addition, she is survived by her special grandchildren, Corey (Kaylee)Michaud of Cartersville, GA; Amber Michaud of Ringgold, GA and Ryan Michaud of Chattanooga, TN. Sarah(Kristian)Philbrick of Madawaska, ME, Megan Jellison(Jacob) Powell of Frankfort, ME and Greg Jellison of Caribou, ME.  She was "OLD MEMERE", great grandmother to Kamden, Kacelyn and Kennedy(Corey and Kaylee); Sawyer Lee Powell(Megan and Jacob) and Scarlett and Eliana(Sarah and Kristian).  Although they were limited in their time spent together, she was able to see them occasionally through visits and also by video. Oh, how she loved seeing them.  Although mom struggled in her last few years from the effects of dementia, her demeanor certainly brightened when seeing family, friends and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Our family wants to thank the staff from Forest Hill nursing home for such tender care for our mom.  We thank all of you for taking the time to help Elaine and Rose through all our calls and requests during her stay with you.  We also give all our thanks and gratitude to the staff at Country Village Estates, especially Paula Gendreau, Robyn Ouellette Nadeau (no relation), Pam for all her great meals, Sue and Jamie and so many more that went above and beyond for mom and our dad until his passing, for Elaine and Rose.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the St. Thomas Church.  Relatives and friends may offer their condolences from 6pm until 8pm on Thursday, June 13 at Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska.  There will be no visiting hours the morning of the funeral.  Interment will immediately follow the Mass at the Parish cemetery in Madawaska.
