Obituary

Aurela "Rella" (St.Jarre) Daigle, of Long Lake, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 with family by her side at the Northern Maine Medical Center in Ft. Kent, Maine on July 23, 2020.  While there, mom enjoyed the company of her many close friends and family members that needed to say their final good-byes. Right up until the end, she had the uncanny ability to change the energy in any room she was in and making everyone feel comfortable. This was a very special gift she possessed. Her ability to show her 'Larger than Life' smile in any conversation was infectious, fun, and will be missed greatly. In simple terms, you could define Mom as the 'Life of the Party' up until her final moments, while continuing to live by her favorite motto "One Day at a Time". Our mom was born on August 20, 1940 in Baker Lake, Canada, daughter of the late Aurele and Jeanne (Roy) St. Jarre where she lived until the age of 6 with her last surviving older sister Jean St. Jarre, now living in Caribou, Maine. Later in life, the family moved on to St. Hilaire, NB then Edmundston, Canada finally settling down with her husband (then) Leonide G. Daigle who now resides in Madawaska, Maine. They raised a beautiful family of six children; Dan, Alan(deceased), James, Denise, Peter and Kathy. Rella is survived by five children:  Dan and wife Cheryl of Dayton, James and wife Lynn of St.David, Denise and husband Rob Hebert of St.David, Pete and Shelly of St.David, Kathy Larson of Jackson Hole, WY and daughter-in-law Nancy (Daigle) Hickey of St.David.  Eleven grandchildren: Jacques, Luc, Jake, Ben, Keri, Corey, Chelsea, Logan, Alix, Danielle, Tori. Two great grandchildren: Kohen and Kalix.  Rella is also survived by one sister Jean St.Jarre and deceased daughter Jennifer Bourgoin of Caribou, Maine, two nieces (Roxanne, Diane St.Jarre) and two nephews (Jerry and Gary St.Jarre) also from Canada.  Four sisters-in-law:  Jacqueline St.Jarre, Claudette Daigle, Dorilda "Titite" Daigle, Jackie Daigle, and four brothers-in-law: John, Norm, and Real Daigle, John Shaw.  In addition to her parents, Rella was predeceased by her son Alan who she missed dearly ❤️ and sisters Claire and Theresa (survived by Jeane (Donovan)Anderson residing in SC and deceased brother Mike Donovan), brothers Roland (survived by Jerry, Gary, Diane and Roxeanne) and Gilbert St.Jarre; (survived by Dave, Mark and Steve St. Jarre). Our mom loved to help people in absolutely any way she could. She enjoyed being an active member and Treasurer of the Daughter's of Isabella. Other accomplishments in her earlier year's included working as a seamstress for Real's Men Shop, owning a sewing business as well as being an awesome mother, grandmother, aunt, wife and a friend that carried herself with 'Grace' in every sense of the word. Finally, she worked at Fraser Paper (now Twin Rivers) as a Time Keeper in Madawaska until she retired in 2000. Lastly, she volunteered at "Our Lady of the Valley" Catholic Church rectory in St. Agatha. Due to current pandemic, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to:  Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund; 194 East Main Street, Fort Kent, Maine 04743 or online at: www.paradiscancerfund.org. God Bless. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
