Madawaska---Aurise L. Bourgoin, 84, passed away at her residence on March 28, 2010. She was born in St. Francis, New Brunswick, Canada on October 3, 1925 the daughter of Thomas Lizotte and Alphena Gagne. In her younger years, Aurise became a naturalized U.S. citizen in order to become a cub scout's den mother. She was involved in numerous volunteer activities in the community. She also worked as the town librarian for a few years in Madawaska. She was recently awarded a sixty year pin and certificate for being a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Aurise is survived by her son, John Bourgoin and his wife Alice of North Ferrisburgh, VT; a cousin, Priscilla Cannan and her husband Dayton of Madawaska; her closest friend and neighbor, Marie McDermott and her husband Don of Madawaska; her loving neighbors, Bruce and Kellie Bosse of Madawaska, who took excellent care of Aurise throughout the years. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer "Sonny" Bourgoin in 1974 and by a son, Michael Bourgoin. Funeral Services will be held 11am on Wednesday, March 31 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and family may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 9am until time of service on Wednesday. Interment will be later in the spring.
