Obituary
Van Buren--- Barbara B. Bossie, 79, died peacefully Monday, June 5, 2017 at a Bangor hospital following a short illness. She was born September 5, 1937 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Thomas and Euphemie (Guerette) Lapointe.
Barbara worked in the cafeteria with Van Buren schools for many years. She was very active with many area activities in Van Buren, including American Legion Auxiliary, St. Bruno-St. Remi Choir, Parish Mercy Meal, and Red Hat Ladies. Barbara enjoyed being around people, especially sitting back with a nice cup of coffee and conversation. She loved all her children but had a deep love for her daughter Sue, who was her constant, lifetime companion. She adored her grandchildren and looked forward to their common visits.
She is survived by: three children, Susan Bossie of Van Buren, Tom Bossie and his wife Susan McDougall of Casco, and Carrie Wall and her husband Mark of Windham; one stepdaughter Kathy Healey and her husband Phil of Millinocet; six grandchildren, Justin, Tony, Lee, Ian, Jake and Seth; three great grandchildren, Shyla, Maylyn and Raegan; three sisters and three brothers; son-in-law, Claude Chabre and daughter-in-law Pam Bossie; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Barbara is predeceased by two children, Gail Chabre and Dave Bossie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, June 9, 2017, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning 9:30-10:45 at the church. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. In lieu of flowers donations in Barbara's name may be made to: American Cancer Society-New England, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
