Portage Lake--- After a lengthy stay at the Caribou Nursing Home and battling dementia, Beatrice Maryann Levesque Cormier passed away on October 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 6, 1936, a daughter of the late John and Helen (Soucy) Levesque. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leo Paul Cormier, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.
Beatrice was an accomplished homemaker, accompanying her husband through multiple military deployments in Europe and stateside for 25 years, before finally settling in their hometown of Portage Lake. She will particularly be remembered for her famous cabbage rolls, pies, and personalized birthday cakes. Beatrice was always one to share a recipe and could solve any problem in a unique and memorable way.
Beatrice's passions included camping, hunting, and fishing. In the fall, she could often be found in the woods, either bird or deer hunting, and during the winter, she enjoyed ice fishing at Carr Pond. She was also deeply involved with Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, coordinating luncheons and decorating for the holidays for many years. Bea was active on the Portage Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Portage Hills Country Club, and Snowmobile Club.
Summers were filled with golf and cherished moments at the family camp, where Beatrice and her loved ones created lasting memories. Her dedication to her family and community, as well as her zest for outdoor adventures, will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Beatrice was deeply cherished by her six children - Gerald, Barbara Pitcairn, Lisa Levasseur, Norman, Mark, and Stephen - as well as their spouses, Janice Cyr, the late John Pitcairn, Bill Levasseur, Tracy Snow-Cormier, Patty Labbe Cormier, and Kim Cormier. She was also adored by her 12 grandchildren, Chelsea and Dylan Cyr-Cormier, Jennifer, Jaclyn, and Jonni Pitcairn, Arika and Sasha Levasseur, Ray and Amber Labbe, Julie, Stevie, and Jesse Cormier, and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Lorraine Heffron, Jeannie Jones, and Judy Soucy and her husband "Kit." There was nothing Beatrice enjoyed more than being surrounded by her ever-growing family. Besides her parents and husband, Beatrice was predeceased by her siblings Gilman Levesque, Arlene Vicino, and Richard Levesque.
