Obituary

Van Buren--- Bella M. Michaud, 97, peacefully passed into the arms of her awaiting late husband March 25, 2023, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. She was born January 17, 1926, in Stockholm, a daughter of the late Isidore and Delina (Theriault) Viel.

She married the love of her life July 6, 1948, Claude Michaud, and adored over 57 years of loving matrimony. For many years Bella assisted her husband at his service station, former Michaud's Esso Station. Bella was an avid card player and read many romance novels. She adored raising her family and was a doting grandmother and great grandmother as her family expanded.

She is survived by one daughter Judy Butler and her husband Burt of Van Buren; two sisters, Doris Karcher of Oakville, CT and Pearl Rowland of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Jody, Amy, and Scott; three great grandchildren, Dillon, Selena, and Jack; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Bella was predeceased by her husband in 2006, one daughter Marilyn Lajoie in 2013, and six sibling, Edwina Peters, Alphina Erickson, Helena Raymond, Rose Peters, Edmond Viel, and Milton Viel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bella's name may be made to: Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, c/o NMMC, 194 E. Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
