Benjamin William Begin Jr.

St. Francis---Benjamin W. Begin, 81, passed away at his residence on March 31, 2026. He was born in Allagash on July 28, 1944, son of the late Benjamin, Sr. and Ida (McBreairty) Begin.

Benny was a proud veteran and a gentle soul. He was liked by everyone he met. His smile, laugh, and gentleness will be remembered by all who knew him. His love and dedication to his wife and family was always at the top of his priority list. He genuinely cared for and protected those close in his life.

He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving on the USS Topeka from 1961 to 1965. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked closely with his father doing drilling and blasting in Connecticut. In 1995, Benny and his wife, Debra moved to St. Francis. He worked through the years for Bobby McBreairty and in his retirement, as well as for Wade and Tylor McBreairty at Tylor Kelly Camps.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Debra (Michaud) Begin, whom he married on September 23, 1977; two children, Beth Gagnon and her husband Shawn of Eagle Lake, Andre Begin and his companion, Samantha Spelley of Ellsworth; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Ramona Morse and her husband Richard of New Hartford, CT; countless nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Ransford Begin.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Benny will be interred at the Caribou Veteran’s Cemetery later in the spring.
