Fort Kent-- Bernadette "Bunny" (Charette) Berube, 76, went to meet her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2025. She was born April 1, 1949, daughter of Edgar and Elsie (Voisine) Charette.
Bunny had a great love and passion for people. She wore many hats and was involved in her community in many ways. She graduated from the University of Maine in Fort Kent with a bachelor's degree in social work and education. She taught adult education and life skills for people with special needs and spent years as a family health worker. She assisted many young women in the community as a labor coach and taught Lamaze. She was a volunteer for the Battered Women's Project, the Sexual Assault Helpline, a Literary volunteer, Hospice of Aroostook, the Pregnancy Care Center and the Red Cross. She was a licensed minister through Marantha in Wickham, Canada. She did many missionary trips to New York City and Haiti, and offered Prison Ministry in St. Hillaire, N.B., Canada. She was a devout member of the Assembly of God Church and taught Sunday school.
Bunny is survived by daughters Laurie Jane Berube of New York and Abigail Elsie Berube of Stetson; sisters, Theresa Sirois of Lewiston and Nancy Boisvert of Connecticut, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Bunny was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy Victoria Berube; sister, Beatrice Sirois, and brother Eldon Charette.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at First Assembly of God Church, 564 Frenchville Rd., Fort Kent. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
