Obituary

Van Buren--- Bernadette Cormier, 90, peacefully entered into Eternal Life March 30, 2025, with her loving daughter and granddaughter at her side. She was born in Van Buren on February 27, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emelia (Levesque) Laverdiere.

Bernadette was a home healthcare worker for many years in and around Van Buren, caring for her clients in their homes. She also worked within her extended communities in many volunteer capacities. She was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella, Columbiettes, American Legion Auxiliary, and a former member of the Red Hat Society. Bernadette enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends and was an avid walker, circling her neighborhood many times throughout the week.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dubay and her husband Steven Poff of Nashua, NH; two grandchildren, Jason and Karisa Dubay; two great grandchildren, Liam and Lily Dubay; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Bernadette was predeceased by her husband, Augustin Cormier, three sons, David, William and Wayne Huffman; and five siblings, Rita Jambard, Alma Soucy, Arlene Bowley, Cecile Klaneski and Roland Laverdiere

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Monday morning 8:30 – 9:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
