Fort Kent--- Bernice (Saucier) Dumond, 96, peacefully entered into Eternal Life and into the waiting arms of her late husband, Roland, on May 11, 2026, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility. She was born June 23, 1929, in Soldier Pond, a daughter of the late Irenee and Mattie (Voisine) Saucier.
Bernice led a faith filled life, always keeping the Lord in her heart. Her daily Rosary prayers were important to her, as well as honoring the many prayer requests she received from her family and friends. In addition to her claim of raising eight children and “one husband,” Bernice spent many years running their snowmobile business. They established and operated Fort Kent Ski Doo in 1974. They operated until their retirement in 1989, when they sold it to their son Gary. Bernice had no issues keeping her hands busy and worked many puzzle books and played many card games throughout her life.
She is survived by eight children, Gary (Pauline) Dumond of Eagle Lake, Michael Dumond of Fort Kent, John (Lisa Gagnon) Dumond of Florida, Burt (Cheri) Dumond of Connecticut, Susan (Delmen) Pelletier of Fort Kent, Audrey (Cliff) Lane of Pennsylvania, Dawn Dumond of Fort Kent, and Lisa (Darrell) Ouellette of New Sweden; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special step sister Marion Bourgoin.
Besides her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, J. Roland Dumond, in 2015; seven siblings, Doris Belanger, Beulah Bouchard, Hubert, Guy, Louis, Clarence, and Wilmer Saucier; and daughter-in-law, DeeDee Dumond.
Bernice’s family is deeply grateful to Crosswinds Residential Care for their dedicated and compassionate support to Bernice and her family during her brief stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning 8:30 – 9:30 AM at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
