Bertha Rina (Thibodeau) Chasse passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2026, at the age of 75, at Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent, Maine. Born on July 9, 1950, in Madawaska, Maine, Bertha was the beloved daughter of the late Camille and Artheline Thibodeau. After finishing school, Bertha married the love of her life, John Chasse, and began raising their family while following him during his military service. They eventually settled in East Hartford, Connecticut, where Bertha dedicated more than 30 years of service to Better Brands. In 2001, she and John returned home to northern Maine. She later worked at Evergreen until her retirement in 2015. Bertha enjoyed camping and traveling with John, family, and friends during her younger years. Following retirement, she became an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary the last 10 years, where she generously donated her time and became part of a second family she loved dearly. She loved creating handmade crafts, always making them with love and sharing them with others. Bertha's kind heart, warm smile, and caring spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Bertha is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John Chasse; her daughter, Tammy Millette and her husband, Joe-Joe of Grand Isle, Maine; her son, Todd Pooler and his wife, Marcy, of Caribou, Maine; her cherished grandchildren she loved with her whole heart, Nikki and her husband, Dustin, Tori and her companion, Brian, and Mandy; and her great-granddaughter, Brooklyn. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved grandpups, whom she loved to spoil. In addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her brothers, Lionel and Bertrand and by her beloved cat, Fluffy. Bertha's love, generosity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday July 9, 2026, at 10:00am at The St. David church. Relatives and friends may offer their condolences at the church on Thursday from 9am until 9:45am A private burial will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou at a later date.
