Obituary

Soldier Pond---Bertha Lozier, 93, passed away on April 29, 2019 at a Fort Kent health care facility.  She was born in Methuen, MA on December 1, 1925, daughter of the late Felix and Eva (Cyr) Sirois.  Bertha Lozier, fondly known as Memere Coon, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved to laugh, loved music, loved animals, and loved her church. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, parishioners fondly remember her lovely rendition of Ave Maria filling the St. Joseph church in Soldier Pond. She enjoyed chatting with friends, neighbors, and strangers alike, as anyone who had the privilege of being in her company can attest, and many enjoyed the pleasure of her company and conversation as she tended the cash register at her husband Carlton Lozier's General Store, where she happily worked for many years. A devout Catholic, Bertha was a proud member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne, the St. Joseph church choir, and the Columiettes.  And though she will be missed by all, the memory of her smile and infectious laughter will bring continued happiness to her family and friends for many years to come.   She is survived by seven children, Robert Lozier and his wife Pamela of Fort Kent, Diane Gagne and her husband Stephen of Soldier Pond, Jacqueline Lozier of Bar Mills, Anne Marie Gibson and her husband Herbert of Carmel, Karen Minzy and her husband David of Gorham, Lisa Lozier and her husband David Douin of Portland, Paul Lozier and his wife Laurie of Soldier Pond; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two special nephews, Gordon Martin and his wife Darlene Soldier Pond, and Richard Martin and his wife Sandra of Florida; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Carlton "Coon" Lozier; four siblings, Amy, Theresa, Robert, and Roger.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Saturday, April 4, 2019 at the St. Joseph Church in Soldier Pond.  Family and friends may call at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Friday and from 9:30am until 10:30am on Saturday before the Mass.
