Van Buren--- Billie Jo Skidgel, 51, peacefully entered into eternal slumber August 15, 2024, with her loving family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 20, 1972, in Rhode Island, a daughter of Mary (Thompson) Malbaurn Plourde and the late William A. Malbaurn Jr.

Billie Jo last worked as a baker at Caribou's First Choice Market and Deli for several years, and Mike's Family Market in Limestone. Previously she worked for a short time with Borderview Rehab and Living Center, Van Buren. Billie Jo was a dedicated mother and wife and loved caring for her growing family. She delighted in the birth of every one of her grandchildren. An avid cook, she showed her love through food, and always had a dish ready for her visiting friends and family. Billie Jo was also a crafter and shared most of her creations with her friends. She and her wife loved caring for their large menagerie of animals at their home.

She is survived by her beloved wife, Amanda Skidgel of Van Buren; her mother of Lincoln; three children, Chelsea Moulton of Lincoln, Symone Malbaurn of Augusta, and Cameron Murphy and his companion Lexee McKinney of Fort Fairfield; four grandchildren, Evie, Liam, Freya, and Caroline; her special mother-in-law, Susan Skidgel;  a special uncle, Walter Thompson; two siblings, Alison Abdo and her husband Hazem and William Perry and his wife Happy; two nieces, Jessica and Sarah; and many friends near and far.

Relatives and friends may greet the family 6 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7 PM  at the funeral home.
