Van Buren--- Brian K. Gagnon, 62, peacefully passed away August 14, 2026, following a long illness. He was born September 18, 1963, in Willimantic, CT, a son of Stella (Byram) Gagnon and the late Sylvio Gagnon Jr., and was a graduate of Van Buren High School, Class of 1981.

Brian worked in steel for several years in Connecticut before relocating back to his beloved northern Maine. He was a longtime carpenter all along the St. John Valley and assisted local potato farms, Ayotte and Marquis Farms, during planting and harvest. Brian was a longtime member of the Pinerunners ATV Club, Van Buren, and loved to take to all the trails. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was inducted into Maine’s Biggest Buck Club after using a muzzleloader to take down a huge buck!

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Sheila (Cyr) Gagnon of Caribou, formerly of Van Buren; one son, Keith Gagnon and his wife Rachel of Connecticut; three stepchildren, Derek Lapointe and his wife Leigh-Ann of Tennessee, Nathan Lapointe and his wife Sara of Portland, and Joseph Lockett of Farmington; his mother of Van Buren; nine siblings, Stanley Gagnon and his wife Suzanne of Canada, Carol Willis and her husband Steve of Tennessee, Steve Gagnon and his wife France of Canada, Debbie Mclaughlin and her husband David of Lincoln, Allen Gagnon and his partner Lisa Berry of Van Buren, Bobby Gagnon of Van Buren, Angela Gagnon and her companion Lambert of Florida, Wayne Gagnon and his partner Kevin Kreiger of Van Buren, and Paula Cyr and her husband Allan of Madawaska; eight grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Nicolas, Nevaeh, Olivia, Juliana, Sheila, and Hunter; a great grandson, Myles; and a slew of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his father, Brian was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Gagnon and a niece, Sierra Gagnon.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Assembly of God Church, 116 Sweden St., Caribou, followed by a time for fellowship. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s name may be made to Aroostook Agency of Aging, 260 Main St., Presque Isle, ME 04769.
