Van Buren--- Carlene D. Ruest, 79, entered into rest peacefully Tuesday, May 7, 2019, following a long illness. She was born August 11, 1939 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Robert and Jeannette (Ouellette) Madore.

She enjoyed attending local BINGO games or busying her hands with knitting. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and cherished their many visits.

She is survived by: five children, Nancy Pelletier and her husband Lucien of St. Leonard, NB, Canada, David Ruest of Van Buren, Judy Silva and her husband Herb of Midlothian VA, Barbara Byram and her husband Lawrence of St. Leonard, NB, Canada, and Lisa Ruest and her companion Daniel Couturier of Madawaska; two siblings, Patsy Stewart and her husband Dave of Caribou, Clarence Madore of Connecticut, and Rene Violette of Grand Isle; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Carlene was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Addis Ruest in 2018, an infant daughter, Wanda, and eight siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
