Obituary
Cecile V. Cyr, 93, of Derby, VT, formerly of Hamlin, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2016 in Newport, VT. She was born on June 4, 1922 in Caswell, Maine to James and Rose (Fisher) Curless. In 1942 she married Guy G. Cyr who predeceased her.
Mrs. Cyr loved caring for her home, tending to the flower gardens and reading. She stayed very active.
She is survived by her children: Janice Steele of Crescent City, CA, Tom Cyr and his wife Ginette Provost of Derby, VT, and Joyce Cunningham and her husband Kris of Wilton; seven grandchildren, Debbie, Donna, Sean, Suzanne, Kate, Benjamin and Rose Anna; six great grandchildren, Brady, Luke, Madison, Noah, Connor, and Jack Byron; a son-in-law, Roy Grove; and a sister, Alice St. Pierre of Pensacola, FL.
Besides her parents and husband, Cecile was predeceased by: two children, George Cyr and Jeannette Grove, a son-in-law Kenneth Steele, three brothers, Leonard, Ben, and Noah Curless, and two sisters, Virginia Bernier and Marie Sirois.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, June 3, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin Road, Hamlin, ME. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Donations in Cecile's name may be made to: Dailey Memorial Library, 101 Junior High Drive, Derby, VT 05829. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, ME.
