IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles 'Charlie'
Albert
January 1, 1949 – August 26, 2021
Madawaska, ME- Charles (Charlie) Melvin Albert, 72, passed away on August 26, 2021 after a brief and severe illness. Charlie was born on January 1, 1949, in Van Buren, ME, the son of the late Jacques Albert and Dorella Lausier Albert.
Charlie was a graduate of Madawaska High School and spent the majority of his working years in the Paper Mill Industry in Madawaska, ME and Bucksport, ME. During this time he followed in his father's footsteps and served as volunteer fire-fighter with the Madawaska Fire Department, a role he was very proud of. While he did eventually formally retire he was still always working. He could be found working odd jobs like painting or roofing, working on projects with his church, helping out his family, friends & neighbors or doing what he especially loved, working on projects for his daughters, and never really seemed retired! He was the kind of man who was willing to do any job that needed doing and willing to help anyone who needed it, never expecting anything in return.
Not one to be sitting still for very long Charlie had many hobbies he enjoyed, his favorite being golf. Whether it was outside or indoors he loved the relationships he built on the golf course and always looked forward to playing any chance he got. He was also an avid bird hunter, bowler in his younger years, painter and wood-worker. He took being a friend very seriously and especially cherished his friendship with his brother-in-law Roland Bourgoin and valued his sibling relationships, always wishing he could see them more. Being a grandfather was by far his favorite role and he could often be found reading a story, playing a board game, making them his famous crepes, teaching them a new skill, building them something cool for their bedrooms or spoiling them with birthday gifts or a shopping trip to Mardens!
Besides his parents Charlie is predeceased by his sister Jacqueline Savoie and brother Paul Albert. He is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Gatlin, Hampden, ME, Melissa Cyr (Benjamin), Lebanon, ME, Christina Marshall (James), Saint Simons Island, GA; Grandchildren, Andrew Gatlin, Hampden, ME, Noah Cyr, Owen Cyr, Gabe Cyr, Will Cyr, Jena Cyr, Tess Cyr, Emma Cyr all of Lebanon, ME, Clara Marshall, Saint Simons Island, GA; Siblings, Denis Albert (Barbara) Portland, ME, Donald Albert (Linda) Madawaska, ME, Francis Albert (Jackie) The Villages, FL, Anne Bourgoin (Roland) Madawaska, ME and Marc Albert (Louise) Madawaska, ME; many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, 10:30am, at Living Hope Cemetery in St. David.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made in his name to the Madawaska Gospel Church, 125 25th Ave, Madawaska, ME 04756 or to Camp Good News of Maine, 413 Campground Rd, Livermore Falls, ME 04254.
