Madawaska--Charles R. Daigle, 88, passed away at a Bangor healthcare facility on May 3, 2020. He was born in St. David on November 18,1931 to the late Ernest and Leona (Clavet) Daigle. Charles served in the U.S. Army and the Navy and was given an honorable discharge in March of 1953. After the military he spent some time in Alberta, Canada on his Uncle Edmonds ranch. Upon returning to Madawaska, he married Lorraine Chasse and they had three children. Charles worked at Fraser Paper for a short time and spent many years working for his brothers, Romeo and Roland at Daigle Funeral Home and Daigle Memorials. He learned how to carve headstones as a child, and was gifted at carving Totem poles, and masks amongst other things. He is survived by 3 children: Rose Marie Simpson of Auburn, Elizabeth Morneault of Grand Isle, and Mark Daigle of Waverly, GA; seven grandchildren: Michael Delano, Charles (Chuckie) Simpson, Justin Simpson, Joshua and Matthew Morneault, Charles (CJ) Daigle and Michele Daigle Mixon; and 19 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Armande (Daigle) Michaud of Van Buren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by 5 sisters; Anita, Julie, Lorraine, Alberta, and Lillian, and 3 brothers; Romeo, Roland, and Chester. He was loved and will be missed by many. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the St.David Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
