St. DAVID - Charles Martin Gendreau, 86, was reunited with his loving wife, Yvette, on November 16, 2021, when he passed away at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born May 17, 1935, in St. David, son of the late Willard and Agathe (Chasse) Gendreau. One of Charles' greatest loves was to celebrate at family gatherings with his children and siblings. While raising his children, he was an incredible father, musician, and family provider. Self-taught as a violinist at the age of thirteen, he played at weddings throughout Aroostook County along with his mother and brother. He retired from a 34 year career at Fraser Paper in 1998. Charles was known for his quick wit, kind heart and sense of humor. Charles is survived by his four children, Daniel of Atlanta and his three children, Miranda, Jacob and Anthony (wife Bailie and three children); Harold of Tampa (wife Julie Ann and his son Dr. Julian Gendreau); Karen Libby of Portland (husband Steven and their children, Alyssa and Cole, his wife Amanda and soon to be newborn; Sarah Bignotti of Atlanta (husband Gerald and daughter Christina). One sister Jackie Fortin, and five brothers, Ronaldo, Roland, Claude, Marcel. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Yvette; his daughter, Donna; his brother, Joel. Charles will always be remembered as a loving father and husband, and he will truly be missed by all who knew him. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at St. Gerard Church in Grand Isle, Maine.
