Ashland--- Charles L. Savary, 87, peacefully entered into Eternal Life on April 14, 2023, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following several years of declining health. He was born February 23, 1936, in Fort Fairfield, a son of the late William and Gladys (Lister) Savary Sr.

Charlie met the love of his life while working in Massachusetts. After courting Roberta for a short time, they married in 1961 and remained in Massachusetts for several years, until they could return to the beautiful northern town of Ashland in 1981. Charlie worked many years with his father at the former Ashland Motors as a mechanic and several years with former Michaud Garage. His love of cars extended well past his work, and he loved to collect, explore, and read anything about automobiles. He was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church, Ashland, with his wife, and was a former member and volunteer with Ashland Area Senior Citizens, where he continued helping his community through charity, car rides, helping residents with small tasks, or simply enjoying a great game of cards or cribbage with close friends. He was also a former volunteer with the Ashland Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Roberta (Church) Savary of Ashland; three children, Peter Savary and his wife Emily of Kansas, Ruth Ikasalo and her companion David Dziomba of Ashland, and Mark Savary of Michigan; one brother, Gary Savary of Ashland; two grandchildren, Michael & Mark; and two great grandchildren, Benny & Caitlin.

Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by two brothers, William Jr. and John Savary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Allen Farm Rd., Ashland. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning 9:30 – 10:45 AM at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
