Raised at 9 High Street in Fort Kent, he grew up alongside his four siblings in a community that embraced and cared for him with compassion and kindness. For the past 15 years, he was lovingly cared for at Sheila Soucy House, where he benefited greatly from the compassion and commitment of Sheila Soucy, Dustin Lausier, and the entire care team.

He is survived by his loving mother, Nien Tzu Tao of Bedford, MA; his siblings, May Lin Tao of Los Angeles, CA; Alexandra Tao of Chelmsford, MA; Benjamin Tao of Chicago, IL; and Joyce Tao of Lancaster, CA, all of whom were formerly long-time residents of Fort Kent.

He was predeceased by his father, Dr. Zui-Sun Tao, a longtime Fort Kent resident and devoted physician at Northern Maine Medical Center, who passed away in 1992.

Chih will be remembered as a spirited and loving person who brought joy to all who knew him. His warmth, resilience, and bright presence will be deeply missed.
