Van Buren--- Christine D. Rossignol, 88, passed away peacefully Friday evening, April 27, 2018, at a Van Buren healthcare facility, with her loving daughters at her side. She was born May 14, 1929 in St. Anne-de-Madawaska, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Paul and Delphine (Theriault) Picard.
Christine married the love of her life, Fernand Rossignol, on July 6, 1948. She worked a short time at the former St. John Valley Hospital, before staying home as a dedicated mother to care for her daughters and husband, always with her motto on her lips, "Thank God for my girls!" While raising her family, she rarely shied away from the more difficult duties around the household, including re-shingling and remodeling the old homestead and assisting her husband with managing and maintaining their many apartments. Christine loved her long walks and could be often seen several times a day walking the streets of Van Buren. During her down time, she enjoyed listening to her music, reading her Reader's Digest, or simply tending to her beautiful flower garden.
She is survived by: four daughters, Sandra Levesque and her husband Ron, Karen Morrow and her husband Carl, all of Van Buren, Darlene Rossignol and her wife Claudine St-Onge of St. Jacques, NB, Canada, and Marylene Rossignol of Biddeford; two brothers, Nelson Picard and his wife Muriel of Windsor Locks, CT, and Conde Picard and his wife Helen of E. Hartford, CT; two sisters, Marriange Lavoie and her husband Normand of Meriden, CT, and Albertine Levesque and her husband Real of Southington, CT; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Christine was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Fernand E. Rossignol, a daughter, Gail Parker, and two infant siblings, Nelson and Annette Picard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, May 4, 2018, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning, 9-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren.
