Obituary

Madawaska--Christopher Blaze Larson, born on July 6th, 1995, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Mary Angela Boyles Spurlock, went to meet his Lord on June 10, 2026, at the age of 30. His life began with a fiery spark, as he was resuscitated at birth. Those early moments also included his baptism and his first helicopter ride, foreshadowing the exciting and resilient life he would lead.

At the age of nine, he moved to Tomball, Texas, where he was able to meet his Granny Stanford and Great-Granddaddy Jesse James Doakes, whom he loved fiercely. Christopher possessed a deep and lasting friendship with his cousin A.J. and many other cousins, cherishing those family relationships dearly. He attended elementary school in Tomball and middle school in Houston, and high school in Waller where he again met lifelong friends. When the family first moved to Texas, they loved football, Christopher playing peewee football and of course became an avid Houston Texans fan, watching their games all the way through high school and the Navy, and beyond, no matter where they were playing or how they were doing.

During and after high school, Blaze worked at the Waller Sonic and also joined the ROTC where he found his calling to service and joined the Navy, following in the naval footsteps of his grandfather, Morris 'Bill' Boyles. He proudly served as a Seabee, learning construction work, a trade he enjoyed and also shared interest with his brothers, Joshua and Caleb. After his time in the Navy, Blaze moved to Northern Maine to be near his mother, where he met the love of his life, Shyann, and became a devoted dad to Grayson and a loving father to Aiyana. They were the light of his life, and nothing brought him greater joy than his family. He was a friendly and outgoing person who quickly made friends wherever he went, including the County where he helped his mother start a food and barbecue business.

Blaze was a uniquely patriotic man, deeply devoted to his God, his family, and his country—in that order. He possessed a very strong will and deeply held beliefs that could never be swayed. He proudly told everybody that he was a "momma's boy" and cherished that title. He maintained lifelong friendships with Justo, Marcus, Justin, Joshua, Kennedy, and Tamarkus throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph, and his brother-in-law, Russell Reed, his grandparents, Bill and Marjorie Boyles, his Granny Helen Stanford, Great Grandaddy, Jesse James Doakes, Henry Spurlock Jr, aunt Joann Bishop, Aunt Lisa(Fullerton) Harrell, and uncle Rick Fullerton.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Angela, of Madawaska, His bonus son, Grayson and precious Aiyana, both of van Buren.

He is also survived by his siblings:

 • Adrienne Boyles Reed (New Hampshire), whose late husband is Russell Reed, and their children Rebekah (and spouse Storm), William and daughter, Anaise, and their youngest, Kamara.

• Henry Spurlock III (New Hampshire) and his four children: Isaiah (Iowa), Traevan (Iowa), Ebany (who is dancing through the world as a ballet dancer), and Tayla (New Hampshire).

 • Joshua J. M. Boyles (Iowa) and his children Naomi, Natalie, Josephine, and Emma, all of Iowa.

• Clifford Spurlock and spouse Shyann(all of New Hampshire), and their blended family, children Kayden ( and baby), Alixzandor, Anastacia, Trinity, Liliana, Chance, Trovaughn, Serenity, Achilles, and Sencere.

• Caleb Spurlock (New York) and his children Kiearra (Iowa), Katia (Texas), Caleb Jr. and Crimson (Waller, Texas).

• Kayla (Larson) Matteson, spouse, Devin Potvin, and children, Aurora Railynn Sweat and Leia Lilith Sweat.

Blaze was also survived by aunts uncles and cousins, and friends, all important, but too numerous to mention.

Blaze fought many demons, but never gave up on God. On that fateful day of June 10, 2026, his demons thought they won, but God stepped up and the demons lost. Today he rests in the Grace, Mercy and Love of God.

Christopher's legacy of love, strength, patriotism, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Fair winds and following seas, your watch is over, we've got it from here.

Funeral Mass with Military Honors will be on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at 10am, at St. Thomas Church in Madawaska, Maine
