Cyr
April 3, 1939 – December 19, 2024
Madawaska--- Clarence R. Cyr, 85, peacefully entered into rest December 19, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving wife at his side. He was born April 3, 1939, in Madawaska, a son of the late Alphonse and Martha (Michaud) Cyr and was a graduate of Madawaska High School.
Clarence last worked for Frasier Paper, Madawaska, for over 43 years. While he was assisting in making paper products, he also operated a side business assisting many of the local residents with their yearly tax forms. Previously, Clarence was a police officer for over 25 years with the Town of Madawaska. He enjoyed long rides and touring the many woods roads around northern Maine, almost always with his doting wife in tow.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Deschenes-Cyr of St. Basile, NB, Canada; two children, Tim Cyr of Edmundston, NB and Kelley Aiken and her husband Ed of Felton, DE; six grandchildren, Andrew, Sam, Gabriella, Christina, Faith, and Trevor; four great grandchildren, Zoey, Marlie, Avery, and Dawson; three siblings, Reginald Cyr and his wife Mary Ann of Madawaska, Claudette Nadeau and her husband Maurice of Monmouth, and Julie Goselin and her husband Guy of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Clarence was predeceased by a son, Glenn Cyr, and two siblings, Gilman Cyr and Lorette Cote.
The family of Clarence Cyr would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the many physicians, nurses and staff at Northern Maine Medical Center, Fort Kent, for their dedicated care and compassion during Mr. Cyr's stay, especially Dr. Harris, Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Kershnir.
A graveside service will be celebrated in the spring of 2025 in St. Thomas Cemetery, Madawaska. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 – 10th Ave. Madawaska.
