Obituary

Fort Kent--Clarence Fournier, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on April 20, 2020 . He was born in Stockholm, Maine on May 13, 1931, son of the late Alphonse and Elsie (Gagnon) Fournier. Clarence started working in the woods with his father at the age of 14; later he met the love of his life Rolande and were married for 67 years until the time of her death in February 2019. They worked for many years together in the woods and then he worked for 25 years as the groundskeeper at St. Mary's cemetery.  Clarence was a 4 th degree Knights of Columbus member and was also the Commander for the American Legion Post 176 in Eagle Lake for many years. He was a Korean War veteran, serving from 1951-1953.  Clarence also enjoyed fishing and hunting, something he loved to do with his son Brian. He is survived by two sons; Brian Fournier and his fiancé Pam of Fort Kent and Charles Fournier and his wife Sylvie of Frenchville; one granddaughter Jessica Belch; one great grandson Ethan Belch; one sister, Dora Huntley of Bangor; one brother Hampy Fournier of Eagle Lake and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his wife, Rolande (Gagnon); two sisters, Rella Thibodeau and Mary LaBlance; one brother Roy Fournier; and one son, Jimmy Fournier who passed at birth. Due to social distancing restrictions, a private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
