Obituary

Ashland--- Clarence R. Moro, 99, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 18, 2022. He was born February 26, 1922, in Ashland, a son of the late Frank and Hellen (O'Clair) Moro Sr.

Clarence enlisted with the US Army during World War II where he served overseas and in Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he and his wife relocated to Connecticut for several years for work, but quickly realized there was no place like home. They then returned to Ashland where they continued to grow their loving family. He worked as a mechanic at Ashland's former Ford dealer and later for Morin & Morin Lumber, where his Jack-of-all-Trades work ethic came in handy in all aspects of driving truck and managing the shops. Though retiring in 1975, Clarence couldn't stand sitting still and continued working with Big Brook Logging for several years.

He was a lifelong member of the VFW, Post #9699, Ashland, and a parishioner of St. Marks Church. In 2021, Clarence was celebrated by his beloved hometown as "Ashland's Oldest Citizen" and was awarded the "Boston Cane." Upon his passing, Clarence now passes his Oldest Citizen title to his loving wife. He adored his family and loved to surround himself with his children and all his wonderful grandchildren, who he often cared for. Later in life, one of his greatest joys was the time he spent raising his granddaughter, and the close bond that he shared with his Brookie and Jazzy. He was an avid tinkerer and liked to spend time in his garage or tending to his large gardens. He cherished nature and you could often find him on the river picking fiddle heads, putting food out for the birds, or hand feeding his little family of fox.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 76 years, Edna (Levesque) Moro of Ashland; four children, Diane Tribou and her husband Robert of Hebron, Roy Moro and his wife Sheila of Mulberry, FL, Brenda Clark of Garfield Plt., and Sandy LaBelle and her fiancé Tom Raymond of Ashland; one sister, Patricia Leach of Hallowell; a son-in-law, William Labbe of Ashland; grandchildren, Ann Marie, Billy, Shelly, Bobby, Roy Jr., Frank, Devin, Jessica, Jasmine, Brooke, Jacky, Tami, Mike, Robert & Kathy; 28 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Besides his parents, Clarence was predeceased by a daughter, Janice Labbe, a grandson, Joey Clark, and four siblings, Sophie Willette, Janet Theriault, Louis Moro, and Frank "June" Moro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Allen Farm Rd. Ashland. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday morning 10 AM until the time of service at the church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
