IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Claude J.
Cote
February 17, 1947 – January 15, 2025
Madawaska --- Claude J. Cote, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in his home at the age of 77. Born in Saint David, ME, and raised in Grand Isle. Claude moved to Hartford, CT in 1965. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving honorably with the 536MP Company/793rd MP Battalion from 1966 to 1968, primarily stationed in Munich, Germany. After many years in Connecticut, Claude retired to Northern Maine about a decade ago, reconnecting with his roots. Claude's sense of humor and appreciation for life were evident in his daily passions. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, watching sports (especially cheering for the UConn Women's basketball team), gathering with family and friends, dining out with his weekly breakfast club, and engaging in spirited political debates. His quick wit brought joy to those who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Susanne Cote (William Mastrogiovanni, Jr.) of Burlington, CT, and Samantha Cote of Canton, CT; his son, Stephen Cote (Stacey Violante-Cote) of Canton, CT; and his cherished grandsons, Matthew and Samuel Cote. He also leaves behind his brothers, Reginald, Gerard, Romeo, and David. Claude was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Caroline (Ouellette) Cote; his siblings Valere, Roland, Pete, Armand, Marcel, Don, Fernande, Anita, Constance, Claudette, and Joan. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Claude's memory from 11 to 1:30 on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Grand Isle Town Office's Community Center, 366 Main St. Grand Isle, ME. In accordance with his wishes, no formal funeral services will take place. Donations may be made to the Center for Children's Advocacy, 65 Elizabeth Street, Hartford, CT 06105 or cca-ct.org, a cause close to his heart. Supporting children's charities was important to Claude, a passion shared by his daughter-in-law, Stacey. Claude's memory will forever be treasured by his family and friends, who will miss his presence and the laughter he brought into their lives.
