Obituary

Fort Kent---Claudette Babin, 75, passed away on January 4, 2026, at a Madawaska health care facility.  She was born in Fort Kent on June 25, 1950, daughter of the late Eddie and Irene (Theriault) Babin.  Claudette was a Franciscan Nun for thirty-eight years, where she was a fifth-grade teacher.  After leaving the religious order, she moved back to Fort Kent where she taught at the elementary school as an ed tech.  She volunteered much of her time at the Northern Maine Medical Center.  She was a communicant of St. Louis Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, often going to private homes to give Communion.  Claudette was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne in Fort Kent.  She also worked in the Church office for many years.  She enjoyed puzzling, diamond painting, and knitting dish cloths, where her and her sister Bernette would go to craft fairs twice a year.  She enjoyed Sunday afternoons, watching her favorite New England sports teams, and playing bingo with her sisters.  Claudette was always willing to help people and gave the best of her qualities to others.  She also had a big heart for animals, especially Sadie.  Their bond was comforting and therapeutic, bringing her peace and joy.   She is survived by four siblings, Joan Dumais of Frenchville, Norman Babin of Fort Kent, Rodney Babin and his wife Jeannine of Massachusetts, and Bernette Babin of Fort Kent; many nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the St. Louis Church in Fort Kent.  In keeping with Claudette's wishes, there will be no visiting hours or receiving line.  Interment will be held in the spring at the Parish cemetery.
