Obituary

Van Buren--- Claudette M. Rossignol, 86, peacefully entered into eternal life on September 1, 2021, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou, in her husband's loving arms and her family at her side. She was born November 28, 1934, in Rivière Vert, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Claude and Jeanne (Lavoie) Michaud.

A dedicated homemaker, she was a wonderful cook, an exceptionally crafty lady, and loved to have her family gather close to home. Claudette was the founder of the first craft fair in Van Buren, and continued it over 13 years. She was a volunteer and leader of the local Brownies and Girl Scouts for many years and volunteered with social programs to assist new mothers. Claudette was a life member and past president of American Legion Auxiliary, Post #49, and member of the VFW Auxiliary, Caribou. She had a love of her community and enjoyed many local events in Van Buren, continued to be a long-time trustee of Abel Morneault Library, organized the many card parties for St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, volunteered at the local thrift shop, and was a Senior volunteer of Cary Medical Center. With her husband, they were members of NARFE and a lifetime member of Living Heritage. While her children were in school, she was well known for baking scrumptious sheet cakes for the hockey players after their games. Her and her husband adored visiting with their children and grandchildren, their many camping trips in Bar Harbor, and visiting many European countries.

She is survived by: her beloved husband of over 65 years, Percy Rossignol of Van Buren; five children, Eugene Rossignol of Caribou, Denise Rossignol of San Antonio, TX, Joan Franck and her fiancé Richard Berry of Buxton, Louise Rossignol of Richmond, and Paul Rossignol and his wife Denise Violette of Topsham; ten grandchildren, Trisha, Sarah, Jason, Michelle, Shawn, Jamie, Alex, Bryan, Shelby & Renée; nine great grandchildren, Brady, Jack, Julia, Evan, Scarlett, Zepher, Kensie, Kree, and Gus; three siblings, George Michaud and his wife Gail of Plano, TX, Martine Dube and her husband Gerard of St. Francois, NB, Canada, and Thomas Michaud and his wife Diane of Shediac, NB, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Claudette was predeceased by two brothers, Olio and Gerard Michaud.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Saturday morning 9:30- 10:30 AM at the church. Burial will be private in Maine Veteran Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claudette's name may be made to: Camp Adventure Juvenile Diabetes c/o Cary Medical Center, 163 Van Buren Rd., Caribou, ME 04736.
