Van Buren - Clifford LaBreck, 80, of Van Buren, peacefully passed away Sept. 17, 2013. He was born Dec. 16, 1932 in Caswell, a son of the late Noel and Alice (Fisher) LaBreck. Clifford spent his working years as a laborer in the woods, on farms and in textile mills in Van Buren, Connecticut and Biddeford. He was always very industrious and self-sufficient by growing gardens, raising pigs, picking fiddleheads, hunting and fishing. In the last few years while living at Borderview, he was maintaining a small garden, playing bingo, and watching westerns. Many in Van Buren grew accustomed to seeing him riding around town on his scooter. Clifford always had a big smile and looked forward to visits with family and friends including annual trips to the camp at Portage Lake, playing croquette (where we had to keep an eye on him) and playing cards. Clifford is survived by his former wife of 20 years, Anita LaBreck, of Augusta, with whom he had seven children, eleven grandchildren, four great granddaughters and soon to be one great grandson, due in December. Survivors include: seven children, Raymond and his partner Harriet of Van Buren, daughter Rena and her husband Ronald Wrobel of Bar Harbor; daughter Norma and her husband Jeff Fuller of Saco; son Ricky LaBreck and his partner Linda Burke of Caswell; son Jesse of Augusta; son Mickey of Augusta; and daughter Amy and her partner Roger Ecker of Randolph. Grandchildren include Tracy & her husband Scott Richardson and their unborn son of Limestone; Andy LaBreck and his daughter Madison of Hamlin; Terry LaBreck and his wife Sarah and daughters Ashlynn and Annalise of Hascom Air Force Base, Massachussetts, Jason Fuller & his wife Ashley of Old Orchard Beach; Erin Fuller of Biddeford; Nicole Fecteau and her husband Jason of Gray; Ronald Wrobel III of Bar Harbor; Ryan Wrobel and his wife Jamie and their daughter Adelynn of New Gloucester; Tasha Lynn Truman and Jesse LaBreck of Augusta; Nathan LaBreck of Randolph. Clifford is also survived by his sister Eva Bell of Caswell, sister in law Thelma LaBreck of Caswell, special friend Pauline Parker of Van Buren and many nieces and nephews. Clifford was predeceased by seven siblings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, Sept. 21, at St. Joseph Church, Hamlin. Family and friends may greet the family on Friday, Sept. 20 from 68PM and Saturday 910 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home (formerly Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home) 118 High St., Van Buren. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery will be at a later date.
