Fort Kent – Colby Alvin Trask, 27, died as the result of an accident, on April 5, 2026, at his home in Fort Kent, Maine. Colby was born on September 4, 1998, and is the son of Sara Goss of Stetson Maine, and Douglas Trask of Winterport Maine. He attended Wagner Middle School and graduated from Hampden Academy in 2016. Colby graduated basic training from MCRD Parris Island to earn the title United States Marine on June 29, 2018. After graduation, Colby checked into Infantry Training Battalion aboard Camp Geiger, North Carolina. On November 20, 2018, he earned MOS0352, AntiTank missileman. That same day he checked into CAAT 1, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion 6th Marines. In October 2019 Colby deployed to Setermoen, Norway in support of the Marine Rotational Force-Europe. He worked as a crane operator and ironworker when he returned to civilian life.
Colby was a life member of North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed the outdoors with his buddies, hunting, fishing and telling stories around the fire. He lived loud. He loved hard. He chased adventure and made memories wherever he went. As a young man, Colby excelled at sports and was a part of Waldo County All Stars baseball team. Colby enjoyed gaming with his friends on PS5.
Trask hated the circus, but he loved the clowns. He was a faithful friend to all, with many describing him as their best friend. His wittiness endeared him to all he met. His sense of humor and creative entertainment have left us with memories that bring laughter in this time of grief. Colby was an affectionate and loyal son to his mum, a protective brother, and always strived to make his dad proud.
Colby is survived by his younger brother, Lucas Trask of Winterport, Fowle family of Levant, Goss family of Orrington, Trask family of Winterport, beloved friends, and United States Marine Corps family. Every one of you is special to us, please take care of each other.
Colby is predeceased by Beatrice Louise Trask, Virginia and Raymond Bryand, Steve Conant, Gerry Trask, Scott Davis, Larry Bowden, Linda Lee Taylor, and Shayne White.
There will be visiting hours for Friends at the Victoria Grant Center, 40 Park Street, Winterport, Maine, on Saturday, April 18, 2-4pm. Funeral Services will be at Winterport Meeting House, with internment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport date to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
