Obituary

VAN BUREN--Conrad Ouellette 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 14, 2013, at his residence after a long illness, surrounded by his family. Born on August 28, 1929 in Cyr Plantation, husband of the late Mignonne (Beaulieu) Ouellette and son of the late Oneszime M. and Sophie (Parent) Ouellette. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served at Sugamo Prison in Tokyo, Japan during the military trials held after World War II. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a life-long member of St. Bruno-Remi's parish. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator for Loring Air Force Base and an independent contractor. He was well respected in his community for his institutional knowledge. He loved spending time with his family playing cribbage. He could be seen lending a hand to local farmers during his retirement getting back to his farming roots. He is survived by 3 daughters, Verna Ouellette, with whom he lived with, Dot Ouellette and Tim Fritz of Allentown, PA , Rachel and Norman Boutot of Coventry, CT; a son, Ray Ouellette of Bowdoinham; six grandchildren, Kayla of Tampa, FL and Kristie of Cairns, Queensland, Australia, Nicole of Manchester, CT, Nicholas of Coventry, CT, Leigh and her husband of Hartford, ME and Jason of Saco, ME; and two great grandchildren, McKenna and Breydan. He was predeceased by his wife, Mignonne, and son, Edward, his brothers, Lucien, Ludger, Adrien, Leo, Romeo, Roland and Percy, and 2 sisters, Adrienne and Mary Annette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM on Thursday, August 29 at the St. Bruno - St. Remi Catholic Church in Van Buren. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Following the service, a reception will be held in the parish hall. Committal will take place at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou.
