Obituary
Van Buren--- Constance M. Fortin, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, November 13, 2017, at a Houlton healthcare facility. She was born November 21, 1930 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Fred and Alice (Thibodeau) Grivois.
Constance was moreover seen as a devoted mother and wife. When she wasn't doting on her children, she enjoyed tending to her beloved flower gardens. One of her favorite delights was walking in the woods and enjoying all the beauty the St. John Valley had to offer.
She is survived by: seven children, Carrie Tardif of Brunswick, Joyce Edwards of Burlington, CT, Phyllis Thayer and her husband Russ of Austin, TX, Lew Johnson and her husband Bill of Chesapeake, VA, Paula Fortin of Madawaska, Monica Cote and her husband Paul of Harwinton, CT, and Armand Fortin of Gainesville, VA; a plethora of grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Constance is predeceased by her husband Armand "Edwin" Fortin in 1977, one son, Wayne Michael Fortin in 1974, and seven siblings.
At Constance's request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Spring burial will be in St. Bruno Cemetery, Van Buren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Constance's name may be made to: The Edgar J. (Guy) Paradis Cancer Fund, Northern Maine Medical Center, 194 East Main Street, Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
