Madawaska - Cora Marquis, 77, died peacefully Saturday, September 23, 2017 at a Madawaska healthcare facility. She was born September 20, 1940 in Green River, NB, Canada, the daughter of the late Jean and Elida (Montreuil) Dupere.
Cora worked many years at Highview Manor and Wisdom House, in Madawaska, as a CNA and Certified Medication Aid. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Before her period of failing health, she often enjoyed singing and also loved many outdoor activities, embracing all the Maine outdoors had to offer. She loved her children and grandchildren and cherished their visits and phone calls. She enjoyed outings with her children, and will be fondly remembered by family and friends for her laid-back personality and cheery manner.
She is survived by three children, Carol Marquis of Saco, Mark Marquis of Saco, and Vaughn Marquis of Madawaska and his companion Chantal Collin; two granddaughters, Mindy Dubay and husband Randy, and Carrie Lagasse and her companion Bill Nelson; two great granddaughters, Kinley Cora Dubay & Kaisley Aunna Dubay ; seven siblings, Fernand Dupere of Montreal, Canada, Claudette Guerrette of Madawaska, Murielle Dupere of Connecticut, Adrienne Ouellette and her husband Gerard of St. David, Therese Ahad and her husband Elie of Quebec, Canada, and Jeanne Lajoie of Quebec, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Euclide Marquis, two siblings, Roger Dupere and Herman Dupere.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Relatives and friends may greet the family Sunday, October 1, 6-8:00 PM, and Monday 9-9:45 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.Visits: 0
