Obituary

Portage Lake---Corinna B. Garrity (85), cherished wife, grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, friend and neighbor of Ashland, ME, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 7, 2023 at the NMMC in Ft. Kent, ME.

Corinna was born on March 1, 1938, to the late Jessie and William Beaulier.  She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Roger Garrity, beloved children James Garrity and Angela Gagnon, and brother Nathan Beaulier.  She is survived by her children Lori McMillon, Joseph Garrity and wife Beverly, Kathryn Stevens and husband Aubrey Stevens, son-in-law Gilbert Gagnon, sisters Pearl Burby, Betty Diehl and Charlene O'Clair and brothers Myrton and wife Donna, Dale and wife Carol and Ricky, to whom she was affectionately known as "Manee", and sister-in laws Hazel Bushey and Natalie Beaulier.

Corinna was known as "Gram" to her 11 grandchildren, Nicole (Gagnon) Busch, Olivia Gagnon, Erica (Lee) East, Liam McMillan, Kate Duke, Rhyne Garrity, Abby Garrity and Brandon, Austyn, Jacob and Bryce Stevens.  Her legacy lives on in her great grandchildren Beau, Hudson and Finley Busch, Logan and Ryder East, Nash and Keller Duke and Alan Garrity.

Corinna took great pride in her professional career.  A graduate of Ashland High School, she studied accounting and worked as the payroll accounts manager for Great Northern Paper company in the Sheridan, Portage and Millinocket offices until she eventually retired after 27 years.  She was both respected and loved by all her work associates, known as an extremely hard worker and the first female in her position at these branches. She left an indelible mark on everyone.

Corinna will be remembered as kind, generous and quick witted by all who knew her. She was happiest amongst friends, neighbors and family.  She loved to cook and play cards, board games and watching the Red Sox. She was especially fond of her siblings who never failed to make her laugh.

Special thanks to the staff and team at St. Joseph's Memory Care in Frenchville, ME for the care and dignity provided to Corinna in her final days.

A private Christian burial will be held at the Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery in the Spring. A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Portage to honor the life of Corinna.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.  Arrangements are entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St/PO Box 39, Ashland.
