Van Buren--- Corinne J. Cormier, 101, peacefully entered into Eternal Rest December 26, 2025. She was born February 22, 1924, in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Ernest and Regina (Berube) Chasse.
Corinne worked many years with Maine Department of Health and Human Services assisting clients with family planning. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies of St. Anne. Corinne loved to work on all types of puzzles and was an avid knitter and crocheter. She loved walking during her younger years and would tour Van Buren almost on a nightly basis. She loved joking with her friends and family and her sense of humor was certainly passed down to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Linda Caron of Van Buren, Larry Cormier and his wife Ginette of Grand Isle, Joyce Martin of Van Buren, and Rick Cormier and his wife Tina of Grand Isle; 20 grandchildren; 30 greatgrandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Corinne was predeceased by seven children, Rodney Cormier, Jacqueline Chamberlain, Marlene Cormier, Danny Cormier, Leo James Cormier, Carl Cormier, and infant Jerry, grandsons, Tony and Scott Cormier, and all seven of her siblings, Arthur Chass, Artie Chasse, Philip Chasse, Guy Chasse, Antoinette Ouellette, Guy Chasse II, and Lorette Schuster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Monday morning 9 – 10 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
