Ashland--- Dale A. Soucy, 86, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his home. He was born June 10, 1935, in Portage, a son of the late Alderic and Loney "Mary" (Levesque) Soucy.

Attending school in Portage and graduating from Ashland High School, Dale enlisted with the US Air Force during the Korean War. He served honorably over his 28-year military career, through Vietnam and many other countries, and received many meritorious decorations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal and Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He was a graduate of the Air Force Community College and Northern Maine Technical College and attained the highest enlisted position of Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commander, Command Chief.  He retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1988 while serving on Loring Air Force Base, Limestone.

Dale was a life member of the VFW, Post #9699, Ashland, and was a long-term member of the SAD 42 school board. He enjoyed fishing and camping throughout the United States, and especially loved traveling with his wife and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 65 years, Evelyn (Sylvester) Soucy of Ashland; a son, Stephen Soucy of Northwood, NH; three siblings, Terrance Soucy of Hampton, MA, Gloria Sutherland of Whitinsville, MA and Theresa Tibbetts and her husband Boyd of Ashland; one grandson, Tamlin Soucy and his wife Mallory; and several nieces and nephews

Besides his parents, Dale was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Ronald Soucy, and one sister, Carol LeTourneau

A graveside service will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Lombard Rd., Caribou, with military honors. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
