Madawaska--Dana Gendreau, 52, died Monday, January 9, 2017, at a Bangor hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Fort Kent on September 5, 1964, sixth child of Leonette (Deschaine) Gendreau and the late Roland Gendreau.
He enlisted with the US Army, served in Operation Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, and was a long-time member of the American Legion. Returning to Madawaska in 2005, he worked with Twin Rivers Paper over 10 years. Dana was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, and loved to barbeque. He enjoyed jostling his brother Danny, a Cowboys fan, about his losing team.
He is survived by: his mother of Madawaska; three children, Christine Gendreau and her fiancé John Johnson of McDonough, GA, Taylor Gendreau and Caleb Gendreau, both of Madawaska; seven siblings, Shelley Sirois and her husband Marcel, Marlene Dechaine and her husband Joe, Susan Desjardins and her husband Alan, all of Madawaska, Paula Techiera and her husband Michael of Seabrook, NH, Danny Gendreau and his wife Deborah of Madawaska, Stephen Gendreau and his wife Lisa of St. David, and Glen Gendreau and his companion Melanie Thompson of Saco; and many nieces and nephews whom loved and cherished him deeply.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at St. David Catholic Church, St. David. Relatives and friends may greet the family Wednesday from 9-9:45am at the church. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Cemetery-Caribou. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dana's name may be made to the family to assist in offsetting funeral expenses. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska
