IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Maclean
March 3, 1947 – November 16, 2022
Ashland--- David A. MacLean, 75, peacefully entered into eternal rest November 16, 2022, at the Aroostook House of Comfort, following several years of declining health. He was born March 3, 1947 in Ashland, one of six children born of the late W. Herman and Tena (Adams) MacLean, and was a graduate of Ashland Community High School, Class of 1965.
Dave last worked with former Ellis Farms, Ashland, for over 10 years before his retirement. Previously he was a machinist for Ashland Machine and Great Northern. An avid outdoorsman, Dave enjoyed heading to the woods and waters of the North Maine Woods, where he fished and hunted. He loved bird hunting and heading up to the family camp in Oxbow. He loved all the New England sports teams, and he especially loved to cheer for his beloved Boston Red Sox. During his younger years, his best memories were spent camping and fishing up to Deboullie with family and friends; the jokes, stories and laughter echoed over the pines late into the evenings. Dave's pride and joy was earning the title "Grampy" as his grandchildren were born. Spending time with his grandchildren were his most joyful moments, and their laughter and games certainly made him feel young at heart.
He is survived by two children, Melanie Connors and her husband Greg of Portland, and Aaron MacLean and his companion Hope Carney Doughty of Portage; three siblings, Neal MacLean and his wife Laversa of Nashville Plt., Lois Holmes and Jim MacLean, both of Ashland; four grandchildren, Kayla, Macy, Parker, and Delaney; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by two siblings, Bob MacLean and Dawn Smith.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside memorial at 11 AM on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Ashland Municipal Cemetery, Sheridan Road, Ashland, with Pastor George McLaughlin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donation in David's name may be made to: Northwood Manor, 35 Walker St., Ashland, ME 04732. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
