Saco--David John Roy, 75, passed away peacefully on April 23rd, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on January 18th, 1951, at Weber Hospital in Biddeford, ME to Raoul Valerian Roy and Rebecca Irene Buckley. He was a graduate of Thornton Academy class of 1969 and spent much of his life as a Machinist at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME and held several positions while working for Portland, Sebago Lake, Newfield and Standish Post Offices. David was also a huge contributor to the Maine Knights of Columbus where he made his way through the ranks and ultimately was voted by his peers to be selected as the prestigious Maine State Deputy for the Knights in 2014. David had an infinite love for the Catholic church, his friends and most of all, his family.
He is survived by his 3 siblings; Dennis, Rebecca Southwick (Richard), and Daniel (Susan), his 5 children; Steven (Millasent), Michelle Pierce (Ronnie), Michael, Kevin (Michelle), Kathleen, his 9 grandchildren; Jayson, Brandon (Alice), Alyssa Hutson (John), Phenix (Lauren), Chance (Nancy), Marcus, Bryson, Coen, Adwen, 6 great grandchildren; Ethan, Olive, Tobias, Aurelia, John, Atticus, 8 nieces and nephews and his very special friend for life Debra Roy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on July 17th at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska, ME. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home & Cremation Services. There will also be a Committal service at Saint Mary’s in Biddeford at 11am on July 25th for friends and family.
