IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Denise R.
Campbell
December 26, 1953 – August 16, 2024
Ashland---Denise R. Campbell, 70, peacefully entered into rest August 16, 2024, following a short battle with cancer. She was born December 26, 1953, in Littleton, NH, a daughter of Della (Smith) Campbell Gilman and the late Herbert Campbell.
Denise was a teacher with Ashland District School for almost 40 years, until her retirement in 2012. She adored teaching her students in kindergarten and 3rd grade and loved when her former students would visit her classroom or home. For several summers Denise enjoyed visiting Millinocket, where she also worked on the seaplane base. She was a member of Ashland's former Rotary Club for many years. During her younger years, Denise loved being outdoors riding horses and cross-country skiing. She was also an avid crafter and crocheted and knitted many gifts she shared with her family and friends. When she wasn't whipping up delicious goodies in her kitchen, Denise would care for her large collection of houseplants.
She is survived by her mother of Ashland; three siblings, Karen Sawyer, Scott Campbell and his wife Heidi, all of Ashland, and Steve Gilman of Millinocket; two nephews, Bob Sawyer V & Rich Gilman; three nieces, Cora Muir, Megan Campbell & Erin Mette; several great nieces and nephews; and many special friends and former students, too numerous to acknowledge.
Besides her father, Denise was predeceased by her stepfather, Richard Gilman, and a brother-in-law, Bob Sawyer IV.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside celebration at 11 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Ashland Municipal Cemetery, Sheridan Road, Ashland, with Pastor Sam Morton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Denise's name to: United Way of Aroostook's Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, PO Box 55, Presque Isle, ME 04769; Central Aroostook Humane Society, 24 Cross St., Presque Isle, ME 04769; or to a local children's library of one's choosing.
